Brief Introduction to the Tanggong (God of the Pool)TempleLong long ago, a Dong young man from Dimen was elected to be a senior official in the capital city for both his extraordinary ability and integrity. Some years later, strong homesick made him quit the job and left for home. What a pity that he died by accident on the way! Finally, his soul flew to his home village and melted into the clear spring water and amassed as a pool blessing all the villagers, and irrigating all the fields. Now the villagers feel grateful to him, and respectfully call him Tanggong (the God of the Pool). Every year, on the 11th day of the first lunar month, a grand memorial ceremony is held here for him to express the people’s worship.
